Who We Are
Hands of Hope for the Homeless is a ministry that focuses on the needs of the homeless in the Shelbyville area. Providing basic needs for those that are exposed to the elements. We offer blankets, jackets, socks, toiletries such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo and conditioners, soap and canned goods with can openers and plastic spoons. We help with meals, how to gain meaningful employment, and a new program added this year, The Giving Purse! Our goal is to uplift the Lord by doing work amongst those who are in need. Christ said, "Do the least to my brethren and you have done unto me" This is this ministries goal. Living in today's world, people need to know there are those who love them and care for them, even in their darkest hours.
Our Programs
Blanket Roll Ministry
Started in November of 2009, Our Helping Hands delivered 12 packages of blankets and tolietries including thermos' of hot coffee to the local sherriff's department who delivered to homeless people living in the area. We are again getting these packages together for this cause. We begin our drive in September each year!
Our goal this year is to have 40 packages to deliver.
If you have blankets, jackets, hats, scarfs, socks or shoes or any other items that can be used to help them during the winter months, or have any other items that will help during the year, please fill out the contact form and we will be happy to meet with you to pick up your items. We DO NOT sell any items to the people we serve. Please know that your donations are used ONLY for this purpose.
Food Assistance
We help provide nutritious meals to those who are experiencing homelessness.
Our food assistance program ensures that everyone who comes to us gets access to healthy and tasty meals.
Employment Services
We offer employment services to help homeless individuals find meaningful work. Our team works with local businesses and employers to create job opportunities for those in need.
The Giving Purse
This is an amazing program we have partnered with agencies around he city to offer gently used purses that are filled with things such as small toiletries, personal hygiene products for women, notepads, pens, a note of encouragement.
These are distributed both here locally and in TX!
